4 steps to follow if you have a Confused Mind

Do you ever feel confused? That feeling of too many thoughts and ideas all coming together? Energy triggered in your body and you feel so productive that you just want to do something and you know you will achieve what you want? And few moments later you just feel lost because you can’t decide what to do and the energy is being suppressed within you?

I always talk to people about focus but with so much in mind how one doesn’t get confused? With so much going on, I don’t mean “the problems” I mean the way we are leading our lives now. I remember, I thought of following few Instagram fitness influencers and as soon as I opened it, I found myself scrolling and then checking up on so many other posts. 5 mins later I had this rush in my mind that I need to bake Choco chip cookies. Wow! that drifted really really far. There is so much available easily for us to learn that we have become confused as to what we should pick up. With so much content available, the process of knowing what we are good at, what we are passionate about has become so difficult. It has gotten difficult to draw the line between being multi-talented people and being utterly confused people. Every video I watch, every post I see, every article I read it makes me feel — oh! I can do that! Then I have the same rush again and eventually it wears off and I get sober again.

How do we train ourselves so that we don’t just keep wasting our time in this loop of “finding the right thing”? Don’t get me wrong I am not against exploring, but I don’t want me or rather us to get lost in this journey of exploration. (By any chance, if getting lost gives you satisfaction then who is anyone to say — Go ahead! May be that's your passion)

Let’s try to train ourselves by doing these and trace if it works:

1. Get Inspired

With so much available, we need to be very particular about what we should follow and what not. If I have 5 interests, I will prefer following 5 individuals from each interest. The point is to figure out if it works for us or no. Keep unfollowing and following people based on how much they inspire you. The goal is to get inspired and not confused, do not exceed your list more than 5.

2. Be Alone

No not anti social! But since our lives are extremely social enough thanks to social media, make sure to always spend sometime with yourself. Everyday! Know yourself, talk to yourself. Be loud while talking to yourself don’t just think but talk. Thinking is multi-dimensional so you cannot get control on yourself by thinking alone. Talking keeps the thought and mind in single dimension. Get to know yourself by being alone.

3. Write That Down

We never realize lot of things around us. I often talk to people and they panic and say life is stuck, I am not making any progress I am so confused and numb at the same time. I feel that at times we need some sort of validation that we are doing something, that we are making some progress. And how can we validate unless “Documented”. So just write down. Every thing that you do in your day towards your goal or finding that passion (let it be as tiny as thinking of a sentence or some key takeaways from the conversation you had with yourself) just write. Write it down everyday! Even if you do 1 thing towards your goal every day, 11th day you know what you have to focus on because you have made progress on something by putting ten efforts.

4. Read the Signs

By this I mean, never do anything which you do not believe in. It leads to more and more confusion. We are so lost that we often ignore the signs. the focus always tends to shift away when you are doing something you don’t believe in because then you aren’t enjoying it. Every time you feel you are confused and can’t pick what to choose, think through — how long can you think through? Did you come across any blockage? Take that as a sign and decide is it worth spending time over? If not, then congrats! You have one confusion out of your way.

Don’t forget to comment down your thoughts.
